Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert

Medical Society

The Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society (ADEMS), founded in 1890, is an association of South Metro physicians which are “unified in promoting the science, art and business of medicine, the betterment of public health, the education and welfare of medical professionals and of the people served by our physicians.”

ADEMS serves as an advocate to its approximately 1,000 physician members living and working in our counties. ADEMS is not for profit and is a component organization of the Colorado Medical Society. ADEMS proudly partners with the five area hospitals and one medical school in our catchment area to coordinate and develop educational and social programs for the physicians.

With frequent publications and programs advocating available resources, ADEMS helps physicians navigate through the rapidly evolving practice environment and the ever changing requirements in the practice of medicine.

About ADEMS

Member Benefits

Significant Financial Savings

Save an average of 10% on your Professional Liability Insurance premium through COPIC Insurance company with your combined state dues.

Local Grievance Review

The Professional Review Committee reviews and mediates grievances made against any physician member of ADEMS. The purpose of this valuable service is to, whenever possible, remove the potential for such grievances to progress to the state grievance venue.

Effective Communication Tools

Stay informed with timely information sent to you via emails, faxing and our regularly published newsletter, The Advocate. Our newsletter provides the membership with informative news articles, meeting notices, and current medical news you and your practice can use.

Patient Referral Service

The South Metro area is experiencing tremendous growth and new residents call the ADEMS to help them find a new doctor. They learn about our referral service through the Yellow Pages, the Department of Health, and various social agencies. Patients are referred to physicians on a rotating basis according to the patients' preferred location, unless the physician member opted out of this service.

Monthly Educational Seminars

As a member benefit, you are provided with several opportunities throughout the year to attend meetings on topics essential to the business of practicing medicine in today’s world. Meetings provide a forum for physicians to express ideas and concerns with their peers.
Representation within Medicine - The interests of all ADEMS physicians are represented by the Delegates seated at the CMS House of Delegates annual meeting. This weekend event is held in September each year. Interested in becoming a delegate? Seats open each year, please contact our office 303.761.2887.

Representation on behalf of Medicine

ADEMS works closely with CMS to ensure physicians are being represented in both the state and national legislative arenas. Participate on ADEMS and CMS councils and committees, and as a key contact with your state and/or national legislators.
